CirkArena / About CirkArena

Key info

CirkArena is a research and development center focused on the circular economy. Its work concentrates on industrial waste, construction waste, and biowaste.

CirkArena brings together top scientific and innovative teams and capacities. It is built on a broad partnership of research and educational institutions and the public sector. It serves as a bridge between technological and knowledge bases, helping to accelerate research, development, innovation, and education activities in the field of circular economy.

As part of its development, a dedicated research center is being established in Třinec.

By focusing on the maximum use of secondary raw materials, reducing waste, promoting circular practices, supporting sustainability and modernization of businesses, and connecting industrial sectors, CirkArena contributes to the transformation of the region.

The CirkArena project is co-financed by the European Union and is one of the strategic projects of the Just Transition Operational Programme. It is also part of the broader SMARt and Green District (SMARAGD) strategy, which offers comprehensive solutions to societal challenges in materials, energy, environment, and IT across a unified territory. The strategy consists of several synergistic projects with planned multi-source funding. Learn more at www.smaragdova.cz.
